Everyone deserves access to safe and dignified sanitation. When we first visited Birahimpur, we found there were no proper toilet facilities, and open defecation was the only option. This created serious health risks and left families vulnerable to preventable illness, especially as many could not afford medical care.
Since 2018, Seeds Of Growth has been working with the community to install shared toilets and hygiene points. Each year we add more facilities as the need is identified – you can find full details of progress in our annual booklet (see quick links in footer).
After seeing real change in Birahimpur, we have expanded our efforts to nearby villages. Local residents carry out the building work, and we buy materials locally wherever possible, supporting the regional economy.
Our goal is to keep increasing the number of communal toilets and hygiene stations across Sylhet so that more communities can live safely and with dignity.
