We believe that access to clean water and proper sanitation should be available to everyone. When we first surveyed the people of Birahimpur we discovered there was no access to clean water during the dry season; the same stagnant pond water was used for all personal hygiene and household duties. This increases the risk of health issues exacerbated by the lack of funds for medical treatments.
Since 2018 Seeds Of Growth have continued installing toilets, pumps and tanks as becomes requested. See the booklet for annual updates on provisions (quick links in footer).
Having improved the situation in Birahimpur we have started working with other neighbouring villages. The work is carried out by local people, creating paid work, and supplies are bought as locally as possible.
Our plan is to continue to provide toilets, tanks, and water pumps to villages in need across Sylhet. All toilets and pumps we install are communal to benefit the greatest number of people.
