Fatema's Story
Fatema's reply when asked what difference will this roof repair make to her?

Fatema's reply when asked what difference will this roof repair make to her? Fatema has been widowed for 12 years. She has a son and two daughters; her 22 year old daughter is divorced with a 5 year old son. The second daughter, 16, is still at school. Her 19 year old son is not at school or work as he has breathing problems.
When her husband died Fatema went to work as a maid to feed her children, but failed to be able to feed them three times a day. For the last twelve years she has not been able to repair the roof or the house.
"When the water comes to our room it damages everything. In the rainy season we do not sleep day or night as the rain drops on the bed. Sometimes no sleep for several days, and the water level in the house is up to our knees. So the time is spent in trying to get the water out. When the rain comes to our room our clothes are soaked."
Her only income is 500 taka (the equivalent of £5) per month from her work as a maid at another house, so she relies on help from others. Seeds of Growth were able to help with repairs to her roof and Fatema says she will now be able to have a good sleep, she is so happy now that the rain will not come in her room and always prays to God for the success of Seeds of Growth now that her clothes and bed will not be soaked, this will greatly relieve her tension.
